I co-created and co-executive produced this deeply reported series of short documentaries examining radical transformations coming to central aspects of life in the next decades. The first episode won us a Loeb award. In collaboration with Retro Report, we spent two years traveling the world finding the characters who aren’t simply making predictions about the future, but who are already living them out. We chose to tell their stories because trends that affect many people begin by first affecting a few. If the future only exists as ideas of the future, we think it’s wise to hear from the people betting the most on theirs.
What Happens Next offers a window on the technology and trends shaping our world. The changes aren’t slowing down, but fear and hyperbole needn’t be our only lenses for discussing them.
